Reza Firmansyah, 29 tahun, adalah guru SD di Bandung yang sudah mengajar selama 5 tahun. Hidupnya nyaman, pekerjaannya stabil. Tapi ada satu hal yang selalu mengganjal: rasa penasaran terhadap dunia teknologi.
"Setiap hari aku lihat berita soal startup, programmer yang gajinya besar, WFH dari mana saja. Aku penasaran, apa aku bisa juga?"
Keraguan yang Hampir Menghentikannya
Reza sempat ragu selama hampir satu tahun. Pertanyaan yang sama terus berputar: apakah sudah terlalu tua untuk belajar coding? Apakah background non-IT akan jadi hambatan?
Ia mencoba belajar sendiri dari YouTube, tapi selalu berhenti di tengah jalan karena tidak ada struktur yang jelas dan tidak ada yang bisa ditanya ketika stuck.
Bergabung dengan DebugGo
Pada Januari 2024, Reza akhirnya mendaftar kelas Fullstack Developer di DebugGo dengan jadwal Sabtu dan Minggu malam agar tidak mengganggu pekerjaannya.
"Awalnya berat. Pulang mengajar, makan malam, langsung buka laptop untuk kelas. Tapi mentornya sabar dan teman-teman sekelas supportive. Itu yang bikin aku bertahan."
Tantangan Terbesar: Final Project
Reza membangun sistem manajemen nilai siswa berbasis web yang terinspirasi dari pekerjaannya sebagai guru.
"Itu project pertama yang benar-benar aku banggakan. Bukan hanya karena berhasil jalan, tapi karena aku tahu setiap baris kodenya."
Hasilnya
Empat bulan setelah menyelesaikan bootcamp, Reza mendapat tawaran kerja sebagai Junior Web Developer di startup pendidikan di Bandung. Gajinya hampir dua kali lipat dari gajinya sebagai guru, dan ia bisa bekerja hybrid dari rumah.
"Jangan tunggu kondisi sempurna. Tidak ada waktu yang benar-benar tepat. Yang ada hanya: mulai sekarang, atau tidak sama sekali. Umur 29 bukan terlambat."

The Doubt That Almost Stopped Him
Reza was hesitant for almost a year. The same question continues to swirl: is it too old to learn to code? Will anon-IT background be a hindrance?
He tries to learn on his own from YouTube, but always stops in the middle of the road because there is no clear structure and no one to ask when stuck.
Join DebugGo
In January 2024, Reza finally signed up for the Fullstack Developer class at DebugGo with a Saturday and Sunday night schedule so as not to interfere with his work.
"At first it was hard. Going home to teach, having dinner, immediately opening the laptop for class. But the mentor is patient and theclassmatesare supportive. That's what made me survive."
Biggest Challenge: Final Project
Reza built a web-based student value management system inspired by his work as a teacher.
"That's the first project I'm really proud of. Not only because I managed to walk, but because I know every line of the code."
The result
Four months after completing the bootcamp, Reza received a job offer as a Junior Web Developer at an educational startup in Bandung. His salary is almost double his salary as a teacher, and he can work hybrid from home.
"Don't wait for perfect conditions. There is no right time. There is only: from now on, or not at all. Age 29 is not late."
